Blake Theatre Privacy Policy

On the 25th May 2018 the EU General Data Protection Regulations will come into force.

This privacy policy sets out how The Blake Theatre uses and protects any information that you provide.

We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

The Blake Theatre may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes. This policy is effective from 25th May 2018.

What we collect

We only collect basic personal data about you, which includes name, address, email, and phone number.

We do not keep payment information such as credit/debit card details.

We do not hold any sensitive personal data (such as race, ethnicity, sexuality, political opinions, trade union activity etc).

How we collect this information

Information is collected in person and by telephone by staff when you are booking tickets and also collected online for customers who choose to book tickets online via theblaketheatre.org.

We have a check box system which enables either our staff or yourself (if booking online) to explicitly consent to the data being collected.

The ticketing service ‘TicketSource’ is used to collect information and to book tickets for shows.

TicketSource is a payment transfer and ticketing system. We use TicketSource as an intermediary to process payments. For further information on the Privacy policy for TicketSource please click here

Our e-mail newsletter is sent via ‘MailChimp’. Mailchimp is used by many organisations and although we can remove you from our mailing list on their servers you may also be associated to another organisation using their system. The information we collect is held by TicketSource and Mailchimp who are external providers.

What we do with the information we gather

We  may use your data to administer:

  • event attendance
  • to contact you in case of cancellation or change in shows/events we hold
  • periodically send promotional emails about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided
  • to send you promotional leaflets, brochures or other printed materials
  • we may use the information to improve our products and services
  • from time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for market research purposes. We may contact you by email, phone, or post.
  • We may also access the following information:
    • previous booking information (e.g shows you have booked for previously including number of tickets sold)


We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about web page traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

  • whenever you are asked to fill in a form on the website, look for the box that you can click to indicate that you do not want the information to be used by anybody for direct marketing purposes

We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or are required by law to do so.
